What we are achieving

Projects

Our projects contain the construction of schools and infirmaries due to the current situation regarding the insufficient infrastructure in Madagascar. The distances to public institutions are often too big and people are forced to walk many kilometers. In medical emergencies this surely is a problem.

Duration of our projects
Everything regarding the construction will be executed by the members of Help Mada Madagascar and will take up to half a year. After the construction the institution has to be filled with life: Teachers and medical professionals are ideally educated and state-approved. The educational concept is provided by the state and our schools will apply it as well.

Our donations will also be given to the running, including the payment of salaries and wages and the maintenance of the institution. In doing so medical care and an educational offer will be continuously available.

Donations
Every single donation is directly given to the NGO Help Mada in Madagascar. The NGO has successfully completed multiple construction projects (infirmaries and schools) in the past. Therefore, we know about the needed financial resources. Each institution will require about 50.000 US-Dollars.

We know every local contact and also know that Help Mada Madagascar has the necessary experience. The NGO will execute the projects in the most efficient way possible. Our members of Help Mada Hamburg are regularly visiting the projects, too.

Spread
The idea of founding Help Mada e. V. has his origin in the flavor and food industry, especially in the vanilla production in Madagascar. With this in mind we hope to build a common understanding of sustainability and good relations with suppliers. In our opinion these are important and essential values of the food industry.

We want to focus on the publication and spreading of our association and want to benefit from our access to the flavor industry. Needless to say, we do not exclude individual donations and use them for our good causes.

Finished Project

Namohana

We finished a medical center project in Namohana, a village about 22 km from the city of Antalaha, in 2023. There were no medical centers in the area, so if medical issues arose you had to walk many kilometers to get help. We would like to explain to you why the village of Namohana was particularly suitable as a project location.

Why Namohana?

From Namohana, the urban area is only reachable by river and by foot. The overland route is chaotic and undeveloped. The route from Antalaha to Namohana takes an average of 1.5 hours over the river route in the dry season. During the rainy season this cannot be disputed.
Additionally, there are another 7 Fokontany (Malagasy villages) in the area, which have a similarly undeveloped infrastructure and will benefit from our planned dispensary. Accordingly, when the project is completed, 11,876 people will have better access to medical care.

Where is Namohana exactly located?

Namohana is in such a rural area of Madagascar that the village cannot be found on Google Maps. The exact coordinates are: 15°02’46.1 ”S, 50°17’04.9” E. It is located approximately 22 km from the city of Antalaha, Madagascar.

What had to be considered in the project?

Our projects can only start with government approval, which is why we were in contact with the responsible authorities. We adapted the construction of our projects to the required quality and hygiene standards.

What does the infirmary include?

The main building consists of 7 rooms for general examinations, a pharmacy, a room for gynecology and pediatrics, family planning, an extended immunization program and a midwifery office, an obstetrics room / delivery room.
The minimum of the quality standards included the construction of outbuildings for the accommodation of skilled personnel and employees as well as the construction of shelters and the guarantee of clean drinking water and toilets.
